Our promise – shining the light on the health benefits of good work
Workers with an Injury/Illness
We understand the stress and worry that comes with going through a worker’s compensation or personal injury claim. There is a lot to think about…your recovery and treatment, how you will get back to your previous work and life activities, looking after your loved ones, and making sure you can continue to pay the bills. Not to mention the complexity of navigating a worker’s compensation or personal injury claim.
That’s where Work Options comes in. We help make the complex simple.
Our role is to help you recover through work. What does that mean?
Well, it means drawing on the well-known ‘Health Benefits of Good Work’ (see below) as a means to help you recover at work with your current employer, or with a new employer in work that is suitable to your injury or illness.
Recover at work with your employer – your Consultant will work with you to identify and negotiate suitable duties with your employer, help you raise your concerns and needs with your employer and develop a Recover at Work Plan which ensures your safe and durable recovery and return to your work duties.
Return to work with a new employer – your Consultant will work with you to identify suitable work in line with your skills, work history and interests. They will provide you assistance to find suitable work, such as developing or updating your resume, help with job applications, and accessing vocational support programs, e.g. retraining or work experience. And, if you are feeling unsure or overwhelmed about changing jobs, they can arrange someone to talk with you about your concerns.
Employers
We understand managing workers compensation claims can be confusing, complex and frustrating. In fact, the most common concern we hear from employers is the cost and stress that workers compensation claims have on their business and insurance premiums. Our experience tells us that employers want to support their injured employees, but often feel uncertain how to do this. There is a minefield of laws, regulations and medical facts to be aware of. Making the right decisions is critical to minimising risk and cost to your business.
That’s where Work Options comes in. We help make the complex simple.
But don’t worry, we’ve been in this game for over two decades, and our team of injury management experts will guide you through the obstacles, skilfully navigating the return to work of your injured employees quickly and safely, whilst minimising claim costs and impact on your premiums.
Fundamental to our rehabilitation approach is The Health Benefits of Good Work (HBOGW) which states that “good work is beneficial to people’s health and wellbeing and that long term work absence, work disability and unemployment generally have a negative impact on health and wellbeing” (https://www.racp.edu.au/advocacy/division-faculty-and-chapter-priorities/faculty-of-occupational-environmental-medicine/health-benefits-of-good-work).
At its heart are a number of evidence-based principles:
